I am a guy who fell in love with movies as a boy and that love has guided me my entire life. My love for the movies has now brought me to the creation of the site: a place where my thoughts and ideas can be shared and discussed with all of you. I love thinking about the days when movies were the pinnacle of entertainment, before Netflix, Blockbuster Video, multiplexes or even television, back when studios would build palaces to show their movies. It is incredible being able to still go to the old movie palaces of The Golden Age of Hollywood and just stand in awe of the magnitude of these gorgeous theaters and stare at the silver screen where the actors of the day were larger than life. That is my inspiration for this site, a time when going the movies was truly an experience that brought communities together to enjoy stories so big the could only live on the silver screen.
Movies for me have always been something very important, a chance to get a glimpse at the world through stories I have not lived. There is nothing better than being able to get lost in to some of the most fantastic worlds Hollywood’s greatest imaginations can come up with. Not all movies are worth watching more than once, some not worth watching at all but every once in a while you find the one that sends you back into the world changed and these are the stories I live for.
I am not here to tear down movies that some people find great comfort in. First and foremost I am a movie lover. Even some of the worst films always have some element to them that I can appreciate. To me “Citizen Kane” and “Home Alone” are both movies worth your time. There are movies out there that are universally loved for a reason, when you sit down to watch a movie like “The Shawshank Redemption” you are left with a feeling of warmth and hope and it is a movie to keep coming back to throughout your life. These are the types of movies I search out and hope to share with you. If you enjoy my taste and my commentary on movies then please keep coming back. Check out the movies on my lists and maybe find something to enjoy one evening. I have spent countless hours in front of movie screens, reading about them, writing about them and studying them. I see everything. I mean everything. There is not a movie out there I am not willing to sit through. This will be the place where I can tell you about the ones I think you will truly enjoy and remind you “there is still magic in the movies.”
